My OS is Linux Mint 20 based on Last LTS Ubuntu 20.04. There is no way to illuminate the numbers on the touchpad with kernel 5.4 to 5.8 rc6 that I have tested. Since I am in Louisville, I drove there and got a loaner while awaiting my replacement touch screen. Parts come from China, and if it is not a part on hand, there is a long wait. Other RD clients may have a similar setting. (Open RD, click Options, then the Local Resources tab.) It may be set to function on the local system only. The one person assigned is very good and very helpful. About the alt-tab combo not working in full screen mode: Im not sure which RD client youre using, but there is a setting in the Windows XP RDC where you can decide how alt-tab works.
